School Messenger Notification System
The Cedar Rapids Community School District uses the School Messenger Notification System to provide timely communication to parents and staff members by phone, email and text (optional) regarding school delays and cancellations, District and school emergencies, attendance, and general interest activities. In order to enhance our ability to accurately deliver that information, we invite parents and guardians to create a contact preference profile using School Messenger’s Contact Manager web site. This allows you to determine how you prefer to be contacted. It also works like a mailbox, giving you a place to review any messages you may have missed.

E-mail Notification Alerts
The District maintains an e-mail list for those who wish to receive notification when school is dismissed early, or closed for the day. Sign up for e-mail alert list that is maintained for your school.
Due to the greatly increased zealousness of the SPAM Blacklisters and the high levels of SPAM and bogus subscription emails hitting our alert list, we are no longer able to offer direct email subscription.
We have upgraded our system and can now offer online subscription to our "Email Notification" alert lists. If you have a problem with either the online subscription or the emailed unsubscribe directions, please email your changes (including email addresses, names, and the building lists you need added or removed) to firstname.lastname@example.org, so whoever is handling this task that day can service your alert list needs.
You will receive a confirmation e-mail. Please follow the confirmation directions provided.
This system is designed for email alert not phone text. If you want text messages to your phone, we need to handle "phones" manually through the helpdesk (email@example.com). The manual subscription is necessary because the limited length of the phones' text messages interferes with the confirmation process. The phones usually truncate the alert messages. Please send to our Helpdesk (firstname.lastname@example.org) your phone's email address (number@domain name) and the school/s you want alerts for.
