America Reads: Reading is Contagious invites:
to visit a local elementary school to share a story with a classroom of children.
Rockin’ Readers is an elementary mentoring program that helps build a foundation for student success. It matches adult volunteers with primary age students who may be below their peer group in language development, reading readiness and/or social skills. Literature is the vehicle used to establish a bond of trust and friendship. Training is most often paired with Mighty Mentors training.
This is a public speaking program designed to improve self-esteem and public speaking skills of fifth grade students. Speak Up! is based on a five to eight week course, delivered by a team of volunteers during 45-minute class sessions.
Speak Up! is a trademark of United Way of Central Iowa’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Baby Think It Over
Baby Think It Over provides an experience for middle school students that simulate the parenting of an infant. The program explores the emotional, financial and social consequences of parenting.
